Learn the fundamental workflow of COMSOL Multiphysics®. This introductory demonstration will show you all of the key modeling steps, including geometry creation, setting up physics, meshing, solving, and postprocessing.


Get an overview of using the CFD Module for laminar, turbulent, non-Newtonian, and multiphase flows as well as flow in microfluidic devices. We will discuss conjugate heat transfer with the combination of heat transfer in solids and heat transfer in fluids, including thermal radiation effects. These phenomena could also be coupled with structural mechanics, chemical reactions, and particle tracing.

Acoustic-Structure Interaction

Learn about the Acoustics Module and how it can be used to model sounds waves, their propagation, and their interaction with solids at both small and large scales. Use cases include nondestructive testing, speakers, microphones, and sonar.

Tech Café: Heat Transfer

Simulating heat transfer phenomena enables engineers to predict and analyze thermal effects on devices, components, and buildings. During this Tech Café, join COMSOL engineers and colleagues working in these fields to discuss how best to model heat transfer and couple thermal processes with other physics to model phenomena like structural-thermal interaction and electromagnetic heating in COMSOL Multiphysics®.

Industry and government organizations will showcase how they are using multiphysics simulation to improve products and solve problems.


Get an overview of using the Batteries & Fuel Cells Module within the COMSOL® software environment for modeling batteries and fuel cells. Aspects related to the transport of ions and current, porous electrodes, and electrode reactions relevant to both applications will be covered. We will address the simulation of lithium-ion battery power and capacity using realistic vehicle drive cycles, modeling of thermal effects on both cell and pack levels, safety aspects, and modeling of capacity fade. In addition, you will get an introduction to different types of models, from low cost to high fidelity. We will discuss aspects related to parameters and parameterization for models, including the simulation of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) data.

Modeling Electric Machines Minicourse

This session will discuss the details of modeling electrical machines and different multiphysics aspects using COMSOL Multiphysics®. During the session, we will focus on modeling different types of electric motors, such as induction motors, permanent magnet motors, LVDT, generators, alternators, magnetic gears, bearings, electromagnetic switches, and more. We will also discuss how to compute winding and core losses for thermal analysis in order to address the multiphysics aspects of these machines. See how electromagnetic forces can be coupled with structural mechanics and acoustics to predict electric machinery noise.

Tech Café: Structural Mechanics

Join COMSOL engineers and your colleagues at this Tech Café to discuss modeling structural mechanics using COMSOL Multiphysics®. You can also ask questions about specific applications involving multiphysics phenomena such as acoustic-structure interactions, fluid-structure interactions, thermal stresses, and more.

Ashwin S. Mecheri
Ashwin S. Mecheri is currently a sales manager at COMSOL. He received an MS degree in biomedical engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and held a research position at imec, KU Leuven, Belgium.
Nitish Chaurasia
Nitish Chaurasia is an applications engineer at COMSOL. He received his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, specializing in fluid flow and heat transfer. Prior to joining COMSOL, he worked with Airbus, Bangalore, India.
Ajit Bhuddi
Ajit Bhuddi works as an applications engineer at COMSOL. He received his PhD in mechanical engineering from François Rabelais University, where he predicted the vibroacoustic behavior of fluid-filled pipes using the wave finite element method.
Prajakta Sabnis
Prajakta Sabnis is the general manager, applications at COMSOL's Bangalore office, which she joined in 2010. Prajakta has a master’s degree in microelectronics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, where she worked on the design and fabrication of a polymeric piezoresistive micro-accelerometer, using nonconventional materials.
Ajay Krishnan Muralidharan
Ajay Krishnan Muralidharan is an applications engineer at COMSOL. He received his PhD from the metallurgical engineering and materials science department at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, specializing in corrosion science.
Pawan Soami
Pawan Soami is the product manager for the Composite Materials Module and Multibody Dynamics Module. He has been working at COMSOL in the Bangalore office since 2010. He received his master's degree in aerospace engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, where he worked on spectral methods for wave propagation in structures.
