In this lecture series, we will work through the modeling steps and usage of the COMSOL® software for acoustics and vibrations analysis with the Acoustics Module. If you want to model sound propagation in fluids, solids, porous media, or a mixture of different types of materials, then this is the lecture series for you. In the first session, the emphasis will be on modeling pressure acoustics; i.e., the propagation of acoustic waves in fluids at quiescent background conditions. We will also cover meshing and solver strategies, as well as when and how to include damping.
The series of 3 1-hour parts will start on Monday, July 13, at 11 a.m. EDT and run through Friday, July 17, at the same time every other day.

Jinlan Huang is an applications engineer for vibrations and acoustics and instructs acoustics and heat transfer training courses. She received her PhD from Boston University, Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, investigating acoustic wave propagation in complex-tissue environments and ultrasound-induced tissue heating and bleeding control. She joined COMSOL in 2011.
