Elastoplastic thermal stress problem

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

I am modelling an elastoplastic thermal stress problem of a 3D thin plate and am interested to find the maximum normal distortion in one of the boundary faces. I find that the location of the maximum distortion does not coincide with the location of the maximum temperature in the face, although not too far away. I was expecting them to coincide because of the domination of thermal stress in the problem. Can this behaviour be explained by a scientific explanation ?
