PML Coordinate Stretching

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

When I see the equation mode, PML in one of the direction (mapped coordinate e.g. y direction) is stretched to complex number but another remains only real for my 2D analysis, why is that?

Also does PML work for eigenfrequency analysis?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I guess that's because in that domain only waves propagating in the Y direction need to be absorbed.

So far I have been successful in getting results using rational strecthing. Whenever I use polynomial stretching, it gives me erroneous results. What is the basic difference between these two?

For rational PML stretching option, the equations obtained from the model is different from the one provided in reference guides. Can someone please explain how comsol uses rational stretching?

Does anyone have any information regarding the rational streching of PML in COMSOL? I am trying to find out how COMSOL determines parameters for rational stretching.
