Corrosion Protection

White Paper on Modeling Corrosion and Corrosion Protection

Nearly every man-made structure contains metal that is susceptible to corrosion, a chemical process that causes costly and dangerous damage. Mathematical modeling and simulation are very efficient tools for understanding the thermodynamics and reaction kinetics involved in the corrosion process. Simulation results can also be used to design innovative and reliable corrosion protection systems.

The "Modeling Corrosion and Corrosion Protection" white paper presents the theory behind the different types of corrosion and corrosion protection and shows how it can be applied when modeling these processes with the COMSOL Multiphysics® software.
